The Specials

A década de 1970 teve um importante papel na proliferação da música Jamaicana pelo mundo.

Da manifestação ativa do Reggae aos passeios pelo Ska e Dub, a sonoridade original da ilha caribenha era a base para uma centena de bandas que nasciam naquele momento, entre eles o coletivo britânico The Specials.

Formado na cidade de Coventry, em 1977, o grupo trouxe na mistura entre a sonoridade firmada no fim da década de 1960 e as rajadas de guitarras calorosas o mecanismo de alimento para tudo o que representa o registro de estreia do grupo.

Lançado em Novembro de 1979 e contando com a produção de Elvis Costello, o disco brinca com os sons em uma medida que não se afasta do contexto maduro dos versos, trechos melódicos que vão do racismo ao aborto em uma propriedade essencialmente comercial.

Lançado pelo selo 2-Tone, do próprio grupo, The Specials (o disco) seria a base criativa para toda uma sequência de artistas que ocupariam a década de 1980 com os mesmos sons.
